Ann-Maree Kerry started training as a rhythmic gymnast when she was nine years old. She was invited to join the Australian Institute of Sport gymnastics program in 1983, and trained at the Institute for two years.
During her career as a professional athlete, Anne-Maree won five national titles, was an Australian team member for seven years, and was the first Australian to receive the International Gold Pin (awarded for achieving 90 per cent or more of total possible marks in a major competition) for averaging over 9.0 at the 1983 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. She was also the highest placed Australian gymnast at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
After retiring from gymnastics, Ann-Maree broke new ground in sports journalism as one of four presenters who, in January 1995, first introduced Australian viewers to cable sports television. She went on to produce and present a weekly half-hour program, The Road to Gold, in the lead up to the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, and was a commentator for Fox Sports at the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games.
In the lead up to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Ann-Maree covered the swimming, athletics, gymnastics and diving selection trials for Fox Sports, as well as working for the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).
Ann-Maree continues to work for Fox Sports, as a senior presenter, as well as a freelance sport journalist and producer, and as a presenter at corporate events.
