Have you ever been to a seminar and a few days later wondered what you got out of it?

It is unlikely that you would forget a presentation by former AIS gymnast Brennon Dowrick. Since retiring from gymnastics, Brennon has established a career as a corporate speaker. As part of his presentation, he wows his audiences by performing his Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning pommel horse routine.

Brennon speaks to between 50 and 70 corporate, government and association groups each year, and his clients have included some of the best-known companies in Australia and internationally.

Brennon was an AIS Gymnastics scholarship holder from 1985 to 2000, an Olympian in 1992 and 1996, and competed at seven world championships from 1989 to 1999. He won gold medals on the pommel horse at the 1990 and 1994 Commonwealth Games and made the all-round final at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. While at the AIS he also completed a degree in journalism.

Brennon and his wife Kym — who also worked at the AIS in sport science and the Athletes with Disabilities scholarship program from 1993 to 1999 — met on the first day of school in year 7. They have four children aged between four and 12.

Between his career and family life, Brennon manages to fit in social golf, oz tag, squash and surfing, and is learning to ski — much to the entertainment of his wife and kids.

Brennon said, ‘The AIS was a wonderful part of my life and I will always be grateful for the opportunities I received there’.
