Former AIS archer Ryan Tyack records new world record

18 Aug 2009

Former AIS archer Ryan Tyack has broken his first world record at the National Indoor Championships in Toowoomba.

The 18-year-old turned in a near flawless performance, shooting 60 arrows at 18 metres. After dropping one shot in the opening 30-shot set, Tyack followed up with a perfect display in the second, ending with 595 points from a possible 600.

‘I was actually disappointed in my opening round,’ Tyack said.

‘But I managed to turn things around and to shoot a perfect round in the second was great.’

Tyack’s world record continues a great year for Tyack who won the Queensland Open Men’s Division earlier in the year.

Tyack missed selection at last year’s Beijing Olympics but is regarded as one of the countries most promising archers.
