AIS Paralympic Alpine Skiing - Eric Bickerton
The pair started competing together in November 2008 and were soon achieving impressive results. With Eric acting as her guide, Jessica won gold at the 2009 New Zealand Winter Games and then went on to win her first IPC World Cup medal in January 2010.
Eric is now intent on helping Jessica win gold at the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
An accomplished skier in his own right, Eric first began skiing in 1990 while in the Royal Australian Navy and eventually represented the Australian military at international level.
After his departure from the military in 2000, Eric operated ski improvement and guided ski tours in Canada, the United States, Italy and Norway, and plans to continue with world-wide ski tours into the future.
Eric also assists the sport of alpine skiing in Australia through his position as National Technical Delegate Commissioner for Ski and Snowboard Australia and as a Board member of Disabled Winter Sports Australia.
