Jimmy Owens
Jimmy is the current coach of Olympic Gold and Bronze medallist - Ken Wallace. He is also the Senior men's 1000m Coach encampassing the men's K1, K2 and K4 1000m.
Jimmy has been involved with the Talend Id coaching and was a former Australian Senior Canoe/Kayak athlete.
Jimmy received the 'Best First Year Coach' award from Australian Canoeing in 1999 as part of the Talent Search Program after his athletes received 6 golds at the National Championshps after six months in the sport.
Jimmy also received 'Coach of the Year' in 2001. He has coached athletes to more than 30 gold medals at the National Championships in individual and crew boats.

Richard Fox
Richard brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience having been the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Australian National Head Coach for canoe slalom since 2001, the Head Coach at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the National Coach in Australia since 1998. A former canoe slalom athlete, he won five individual and five team world titles for Great Britain in the men's kayak event between 1981 and 1993. He is regarded by the AIS as one of their most outstanding coaches.
Richard's work history and involvement at all levels of the sport of canoeing over a period of 25 years as an elite athlete, coach and manager provides a rich background for this position. In particular, Richard’s proven leadership, communication skills and innovation at the high performance level will prove a sound background in enabling him to accept the challenges of this demanding new position.
The interview panel, which included former AIS Director, Michael Scott and Australian Canoeing CEO Jon Bisset, agreed that a change to the role to place responsibility for both slalom and flatwater (sprint) was appropriate in this instance and concurred that Richard was indeed the ideal candidate to achieve this.
Bisset was pleased with the new appointment. “Richard has become an integral part of Australian Canoeing in his tenure as Head Coach of the canoe slalom team. His expertise in the field is unquestionable and I’m confident his appointment will ensure a successful future for the high performance program,” he said.
In his role as National Performance Director, Richard is responsible for providing technical support and direction in effectively managing the Flatwater and Slalom High Performance Program.
Richard was excited at the great challenge and opportunity to lead both the slalom and flatwater programs. 'I look forward to working with Australian Canoeing and the program stakeholders as well as the athletes and coaches to deliver the best possible result for our sport. I am confident Australia can build on it's current position and potentially become a powerful canoeing nation,' he noted.

Martin Marinov
The Australian Institute of Sport appointed Martin Marinov as head coach of the National/AIS Flatwater Canoeing program on 27 October 2006.
Marinov competed in three Olympic Games for Bulgaria, winning a bronze medal at the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. He later emigrated to Australia where he competed in the green and gold at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
Marinov has acquired significant international experience as an elite canoe/kayak coach having worked in Bulgaria, China, Japan and Australia.
He has trained four Junior World Championship medallists including two world junior gold medallists and coached Australian senior team athletes at World Cup and World Championships.
The 39-year-old said he was looking forward to working at arguably the best sporting institution in the world. ‘The AIS is at the forefront of elite athlete development and I am delighted to have the opportunity to help build Australia’s future in the canoe/kayak arena,’ Marinov said.
AIS Director Professor Peter Fricker said Marinov’s appointment continues the Institute’s tradition of pursuing excellence.
‘Martin is a top quality coach who will bring a wealth of knowledge and new concepts to the National/AIS Flatwater Canoeing program. He is perfectly placed to assist Australia’s talented canoe/kayak athletes achieve success on the world sporting stage.’ Professor Fricker said.

Vince Fehervari (High Performance Coach)
Vince Fehervari is a former Hungarian and NSWIS paddler. Vince has been recruited into the Australian coaching ranks to assist with the development of kayaking in Australian and to provide technical expertise to the national team. Vince is a seven times World Champion in 200m events.
