Cycling Bobridge wins major European cycle race

06 May 2009
Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) cyclist Jack Bobridge claimed victory in the under-23 Eschborn–Frankfurt City Loop race on 1 May 2009.
Bobridge won the 140km race in 3 hours, 30 minutes, 57 seconds, finishing just ahead of Austrians Daniel Schorn in second place and Matthias Brändle in third.

Fellow AIS cyclists Adam Semple and Michael Matthews finished with the main group, in 11th and 12th place, respectively.

The 19-year-old Bobridge is currently training with the AIS cycling program in Gavirate, Italy and has been enjoying a great run of form this year.

In January he won double national titles — the under-23 time trial and road race — at the Scody Australian Open Road Cycling Championships, and then went on to claim a silver medal in the men’s individual pursuit at the 2009 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in March.
