Thomas Sermanni (Head Coach)

Tom Sermanni was appointed AIS Women’s Football in 2005. He was previously the National Women’s Head Coach from 1994-1997 and has an extensive background coaching both in Australia and overseas. Tom has coached various successful teams in the Men’s Australian Soccer League and Japanese J League, as well as coaching women’s teams in the WUSA Women’s Professional Soccer League, which is renowned internationally as the strongest domestic league in the world. This is Tom's second time with the AIS, he was also the Men’s AIS Soccer coach in the early 1990's.

Tom lead the Matilda's to an exciting win against DPR Koran in the Asian Cup in May 2010, the first major football trophy won by any Australian football team, male or female.

Paul Jones (Goalkeeping Coach)

Paul was an AIS scholarship holder 1984-85.  He was an under 20 and under 23 Australia representative, playing in the 1985 Youth World Cup in Russia.  Returning to Australia after a successful World Youth Cup to sign with Marconi in the old national soccer league.

Appointed  to the position of AIS goalkeeping coach in 1987. Paul held the position of goalkeeper coach with the AIS men’s program for more than 20 years. Whilst holding this position Paul was also the national goalkeeper coach (1994-1997) with the Matilda’s on Tom Sermanni’s first stint as national team coach.

In 2005 Paul rejoined the AIS women’s program. During this time Paul’s role has grown to cover goalkeeper development for all the national women’s teams, Junior Matilda’s (under 17’s), Young Matilda’s and the senior national team, the Matilda’s.
Matilda’s goalkeeper coach for the 2006 and 2010 AFC Championship and a valued member of the coaching staff for the Matilda’s success 2007 Women’s World Cup campaign and Asian Cup win in 2010.
