Netball - Achievements

The AIS Netball program develops players to represent Australia at the 21-and-under level, and ultimately the national senior level. At the 2000 World Youth Cup in Wales, 11 of the 12 members of the Australian team were current AIS scholarship holders. The gold medal winning Australian team at the 2007 World Championships included former scholarship holders Catherine Cox, Susan Pratley, Laura von Bertouch, Lauren Nourse and Silena Gilsenan.

In 2008 the AIS team will be competiting in the Australian Netball League. From 2003 - 2007 the AIS competed in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy as the AIS Canberra Darters. Previously the AIS team played in the South Australian State League, winning the title in 2001 and runners-up in 2002.

The program also has an international tour each year, taking in countries such as South Africa, Jamaica, England, Trinidad, Barbados and New Zealand.

More AIS netball highlights year-by-year are also available.
