About us

The National Sport Information Centre (NSIC) provides a gateway to sport related information services and resources supporting the needs of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and Australian sports community. The NSIC is Australia's premier information resource centre for sport and is highly regarded throughout the world.

The NSIC was established in 1982 as the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Information Centre, and later became the National Sport Information Centre in 1989 when the AIS amalgamated with the ASC.

The NSIC is located on the ground floor of the Corporate Services Building (No.17 on AIS Camp Map ) of the Australian Sports Commission at the Australian Institute of Sport campus in Canberra.

Primary clients of the NSIC include:

  • Australian Sports Commission staff
  • Australian Institute of Sport athletes, coaches and scientists
  • State Institutes and Academies of Sport staff and athletes through their local sport Information Centres
  • National sports organisations staff

Members of the public, and in particular the sporting community, can access the NSIC by :

  • Directly contacting the NSIC 
  • Obtaining resources held by the NSIC through their local library. The online NSIC Catalogue lists resources available for loan. 

Charges apply to members of the public. 

The NSIC is a prominent member of the Australian Sport Information Network (AUSPIN) and International Association for Sport Information (IASI)
