Heritier ‘Harry’ O’Brien is an Australian Footballer with the Collingwood Football Club in the AFL.

He was born to a Brazilian mother and Congolese father in Rio de Janeiro and moved to Australia and settled in Western Australia with his family when he was three years old.

Harry has the distinction of being the first Brazilian born player to play in the AFL.

Raised in Australia and fully embracing the Australian way of life he is still very passionate about his South American heritage - playing traditional instruments and regularly cooking feijoada, the country's national stew dish, at home.

Harry is deeply committed and passionate about inclusion and getting people from all cultures involved in sport and the Australian lifestyle. He is a great role model for those people new to this country and a terrific example of the benefits that can accrue for the community when there is greater understanding and harmony between all cultures.

Lisa Sthalekar plays cricket for the Australian Southern Stars women’s team. She made her debut for Australia in 1991 in a One Day International against England and made her test debut also against England two years later.

Lisa was born in Pune in India and moved to Australia when she was three weeks old. Lisa started playing backyard cricket with her father when she was five years old and often watched matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground before joining a boy’s team at the West Pennant Hills Cricket Club.

Lisa has been named the Australian International Woman Cricketer of the year in 2007 and 2008. She is one of the world’s best all rounders and was the first player to score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in Women’s One Day Internationals.

Although spending almost all of her life in Australia, Lisa still enjoys the Indian culture. She has kept in touch with her relatives in India and tries to catch up with them when the Australian team tours India. She also enjoys Indian food and feels lucky she has two different cultures and backgrounds she respects and enjoys.
