Officiating scholarship update

Scholarship holders

03 Jul 2009

Josh Bowring and Marc Henning, netball officiating scholarship holders, have successfully achieved an All Australia (AA) Umpire Award. The pair was awarded the highest Australian umpiring qualification after they were tested during the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Central Pulse ANZ Championship game in Round 12.

This achievement highlights the role of the scholarship program in facilitating professional development to officials to assist them to attain high performance outcomes.

The 2009 officiating scholarship holders participated in a national workshop in February combining all scholarship officials and their mentors, followed by satellite workshops in Brisbane and Melbourne.

The satellite workshops provided further opportunities for scholarship holders to access the specialist services of Sally Anderson (nutrition), Michael Lloyd (psychology), Angela Calder (recovery) and Patrick Gerry (vision) in one-on-one appointments. AIS psychologists Matti Clements and Jason Patchell also featured in the Brisbane and Melbourne workshops respectively.
