Each week during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we will highlight an athlete, coach, official, or sport who embodies Australian high performance sport’s united commitment to win well and inspire Australians.
Week one belongs to Australia’s golden girl of the pool, Ariarne Titmus.
Shortly after she made history by becoming the first Australian woman since Dawn Fraser in 1956 to successfully defend a gold medal, Titmus explained that she doesn’t just compete for herself, but to inspire and motivate future generations.
While speaking to Paralympic swimming legend Ellie Cole during Channel 9’s coverage of the women’s 400m freestyle final, Titmus said:
A total of 51 sports and organisations have made the pledge to win well as part of Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Sport Strategy.
Win Well is the commitment to wellbeing being the foundation of sustainable success, and to balance ambitious performance goals with a culture of care, integrity, fair play and pride.
