The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has a strong focus on building the sports sector’s capacity and capability to increase access and participation in sport for all Australians, in particular children and young people.

A key focus within the ASC’s participation work is on supporting partnerships between schools and sports in order to deliver attractive and relevant sporting experiences for the next generation.

Recently, the ASC developed two new resources designed to support national sporting organisations to develop and deliver quality sporting experiences for the school environment.

The Curriculum Alignment Guidelines aim to assist sports in understanding how to develop or adapt products so that they align with the Australian Curriculum. These guidelines provide an overview on what curriculum alignment involves, the benefits of alignment, and the key considerations for aligning resources and programs to the Australian Curriculum. Additionally, the guidelines include simple step-by-step instructions that sports can follow when developing or adapting resources.

The Teacher Professional Learning Guidelines have been designed to assist sports to develop high quality professional learning experiences for teachers who deliver, or want to deliver, sport to their students. These guidelines include step-by-step instructions as well as information around the key considerations for developing new, and enhancing existing teacher professional learning.
