Welcoming your volunteers
First impressions go a long way so take time to consider how to best welcome your new and returning volunteers.
Consider:
- Appointing a Welcoming Officer or Volunteer Coordinator to meet and welcome all new volunteers
- Create a welcome letter with all key contacts and important information
- Introduce new volunteers to key contacts and club leaders
- Thank them for their commitment
- Collect their contact details and store on the club volunteer register
Inducting your volunteers
Ater welcoming new volunteers to your club, spend some time ensuring they have access to all the tools and support they need to be successful in their role. The induction will vary depending on the role size and type but some things to consider include:
- Welcome booklet with key contact details and information
- Information on the club
- Information on their role and expectations
- Access to software and applications including passwords
- Sharing of codes of conduct, documents, policies and procedures
- Tour of the facility
- Key provision
- Any training or accreditation required
- Handover from previous role holder
- Assign a buddy
