Kylee Byrne has been appointed as the AIS Coach Development Lead at the QAS.

As part of the AIS’ world-leading commitment to coach development, Byrne joins a network of Coach Development Leads working with coaches from each state sporting institute and academy across Australia.

Responsible for overseeing and accelerating the development of QAS’ emerging Generation 2032 Coaches, Byrne said she is excited by the opportunities in her new role.

“The AIS is leading the way in high-performance (HP) and emerging coach support, and I am thrilled to be able to a part of ensuring Australia remains at the forefront in this space,” Byrne said.

“There is nothing better than working with emerging coaches who are keen to learn and grow in their roles, and to be able to find opportunities for them to be the best they can.”

AIS Coach Development Manager Bill Davoren said Byrne’s wealth of experience as a HP Netball Coach makes her an invaluable asset to the AIS team.

“Kylee is a great addition to the Coach Development team, with her Head Coaching experience in a high-pressure environment a valuable resource to both experienced and developing coaches alike.”

Davoren said Byrne and the network of Coach Development Leads will be fundamental to Australia’s sustainable success in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

“Coaching in the HP space is demanding and complex with the ongoing learning and development of Australia's HP coaches fundamental to our vision for success at the Brisbane games.

“The Coach Development Lead roles across Australia have been created to provide our emerging HP coaches with a critical mentor and pathway for their ongoing growth and development. It is up to Kylee and the Coach Development Leads to facilitate learning for their coaches.”

Likewise, Kylee acknowledged the importance of her new role and said she would be encouraging her coaches to take a holistic approach to ensure their ongoing success.

“Coaching is no longer about turning up and delivering technical advice, just like athletes, we need to support Australia's coaches to have a holistic approach in their roles.

“As Australia embarks on an exciting decade of sport, it is important our coaches receive the ongoing support they need to take care of their own wellbeing so they can help their athletes achieve success.”
