The four-day event brings together world-leading research and lived experiences centered on optimising performance and health outcomes for female athletes.

International guest speakers include Professor Kirsty Elliott Sale, Winner of Best Research at the Boston Female Athlete Conference, Dr Rich Burden and Anita Biswas from the UK Sports Institute and Amber Donaldson, Vice President of Sports Medicine at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

Athletes Jess Skinner (NRL), Madi de Rozario (Para-Athletics), Bronwen Knox (Water Polo) and Laura Geitz (Netball) are also taking part.

“We need to continue the momentum for women’s sport, as seen with the Matildas’ effect, and WISC2024 is the perfect way to do this,” Project Lead AIS Female Performance and Health Initiative and WISC Senior Chair, Dr Rachel Harris said.

“It is so important that in this Green and Gold decade that we continue to listen to the lived experiences of athletes, coaches and clinicians and support them with the most up-to-date research.”

“The gaps in research and resourcing into women and girls in sport are huge, however, incredible work is being done to fill this by academics and our high performance systems here in Australia and abroad.”

As part of the ASC’s commitment to drive thought leadership and innovation in sport, WISC has partnered with five Australian Universities who will each deliver a unique research theme.

Among the many topical themes that will be covered are the sex-based differences in ACL recovery, the influence of menstrual cycle status, eating disorders, postpartum return to sport and women in High Performance Coaching. See the full program here., opens in a new tab

The conference has also attracted international delegates from sporting organisations including the Japan Sport Council, High Performance Sport New Zealand, Sport Singapore, the UK Sports Institute, plus representatives from the Australian National Institute Network and several Australian and New Zealand National Sporting Organisations.
