With the support of the Australian Government, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has opened another round of our Participation Grant Program to help more Australians get active and enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.
National sport and physical activity organisations and Local Government Councils are invited to apply for funding through the Play Well Participation Grant Program for projects that drive participation in sport.
The program follows the launch of Australia’s first Sport Participation Strategy which aims to transform sport participation to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.
The Strategy calls on Australians to Play Well and create great sporting environments where people of all ages, backgrounds, genders and abilities can come together to access the benefits of sport.
The Strategy provides a roadmap over three horizons with the Play Well Participation Grant Program helping to kickstart Horizon 1 which focuses on aligning the sector and driving participation in sport.
$10.3 million in funding is available and will be shared across two competitive streams.
The first stream will support national sport and peak physical activity organisations to deliver new or expand existing programs that drive lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity.
Local Government Councils can also apply for funding to host events such as Come & Try days and multi-sport festivals in their communities that promote equitable access for all.
Applications have opened and close on 23 February 2024.
